TURNED DOWN

A LEAGUE OFFER INNES TO PLAY RUGBY UNION (Per Press Association) CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. G. D. Innes, the Canterbury and New Zealand Rugby representative, to-day gave a definite refusal to the Auckland Rugby League Club which had made him an offer to go over to the League code. The first offer was the equivalent to £5OO yearly, but it is understood that an advance was made on this offer to-day. Innes, in a statement to a reporter, said that he did not like to sever his connection with the Rugby Union code, and he will stay in his present position until he can secure an appointment in his profession as a schoolmaster.
