SERIOUS DAMAGE
BY BRITISH FLOODS. 6000 YORKSHIRE MINERS IDLE. British Official Wireless. RUGBY, May 24. The serious flooding which followed the heavy week-end rains caused grave damage, particularly in the valleys of the Don in South Yorkshire and the Avon in Worcestershire. It is reported that mine flooding in South Yorkshire rendered 6000 people, and in reply to a question in Parliament the Minister of Health announced that an inspector would be dispatched to this area, where the houses of over 1000 people have been flooded.
