UNFIT UNEMPLOYED

OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT HOSPITAL RESPONSIBILITY (Per Press Association) WELLINGTON, Last Night. Hospital boards throughout New Zealand arc vitally interested in the decision by the Unemployment Board that, they will be expected to provide relief for men certified as medically unfit for heavy work and who are unable to go to camps or who cannot carry out heavy work under the No. 5 scheme. 1

Some hospital boards thought that when the Unemployment Amendment Act of last session became operative they would be relieved of the burden of providing for registered unemployed all of whom would be provided for out of the funds of the Unemployment, Board.

It was stated officially to-day that the Unemployment Board felt that it could not assist men who were certified as medically unfit for the work available. If a man could not do the work offering the board’s funds would not permit of payments being made to him.
