ANNUAL MEETING HELD
TRIBUTES TO EX-MEMBERS
The annual meeting of the Napier Harbour Board was held to-day. Present: Messrs. T. M. Geddis (chairman), A. E. Jull, M.P., L. Harris, J. Barker, J. I. Cato, J. C. Bryant, R. Baker, L. Stephenson, P. Higgins, H. R. Peacock, R. McLean, T. L. Gordon and E. J. Herrick.
Leave of absence was granted to Mr. G. C. Lowe.
The chairman’s honorarium was fixed at £lOO for the current year. Mr. E. J. Herrick was elected de-puty-chairman of the board. The chairman, in extending a welcome to the newly-elected members, Messrs. L. E. Harris, J. Barker, and T. L. Gordon, said that they had replaced M essrs - J - E - Jones > J - H - Joll and H. Anderson, all of whom had given long and valued service to the board, and he moved that the board place on record its appreciation of their services.
Mr. Jull, in seconding the motion, said that coming from the chairman, It was a graceful tribute to these members who for several years actively engaged themselves in the board’s administration. The chairman’s motion was carried unanimously. APPOINTMENT OF COMMITTEES The following committees were appointed:— Finance: Messrs. T. M. Geddis (chairman), A. E. Jull, M.P., P. F. Higgins, J. Barker, R. McLean, J. C. Bryant and J. I. Cato. Works: Messrs. P. Higgins (chairman), J. I. Cato, E. J. Herrick and J. C. Bryant. By-laws: Messrs. J. I. Cato (chairman), L. Stephenson, J. C. Bryant, J. Barker and A. E. Jull, M.P. Reserves: Messrs. J. C. Bryant (chairman), R. Baker, J. Barker, T. L. Gordon, L. E. Harris, G. C. Lowe and H, R. Peacock. The board at this stage adjourned for the purpose of making an inspection of the various activities at the port. Among the items on the agenda paper for discussion in committee were the operation of the dredges, the reclamation of Richmond Block, and dues on goods and on ships.
