ACT OF EXCLUSION
FROM IRISH FREE STATE OF BRITISH MANUFACTURERS LONDON, May 21. The Irish Free State is refusing to allow British manufacturers to establish. factories within its tariff walls. The Irish Press, Mr de Valera’s newspaper, states that two of England’s largest chocolate manufacturers sought facilities to manufacture in the Free State, but were refused because the Department of Industry and Commerce considers the existing factories are sufficient to meet the needs of the com munity.
Similar applications by English manufacturers of boots and waterproofs have also been rejected, as the department declares that development caused by the tariff should be under native control.
