Mrs N. M. Paulsen, of “Brookwood,” Takapau, is visiting her sister, Mrs McKenzie, Cobden Road, Napier.

Miss Hale; of the Waipukurau District High School staff, has returned after spending the holidays in Dunedin.

Mrs R. O’Donnell, of Waipawa, has been compelled to enter the Waipukurau Public Hospital for treatment.

Miss Delcio Williams has returned to Waipawa from a holiday visit to Christchurch.

Mr Wm. Thomson (editor of “The New Zealander”) is in Waipukurau, and will be in town for a few days.

Mr J. Bryce has found it necessary to enter the Waipkurau Hospital for

treatment.

Dr. Compton, M. 8., B Ch., Cantab., who with his wife and family came out from England last year, has, after touring the North Island, decided to settle in Havelock North.

The' engagement is announced of Inez Alice, younger daughter of the Rev. A. and Mrs Ashcroft, of Oamaru, and formerly of Mount Albert, Auckland. to Walter David, eldest son of Mr and Mrs D. H. Rickey, Mount, Herbert, Waipukurau.

Mr W. Woodyer, formerly a member of the Waipukurau and Waipawa railway staffs, and latterly assistant traffic manager at Auckland, paid a brief visit to Waipukurau to-day, being en route to Hastings, where he will spend a. holiday. Mr Woodyer ■was a well-known figure in Wairarapa and Hawke’s Bay athletic circles a decade since.

Although the personnel of tho Dominion’s delegation to Ottawa is not m be announced for a day or two. it is understood that tho Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes) and the Minister of Finance (the Hon. W. D. Stewart) will go. The late* arrival of the agenda paper* is embarrasing Cabinet in making its final decision. It is believed, however, that tnc delegation is already practically decided upon and that tho selection is merely waiting formal confirmation.

There was a large following of friends and sympathisers yesterday •afternoon at the funeral of the late Mr Henry Charles Noedl. A short service was held, at St. Mary’s Church, at which the Rev. Canon E. D. Rice officiated. At the graveside there was a large assemblage and at the conclusion of the burial service conducted by the Rev. E. D. Rice, the Foresters ’ funeral address was read by P.C.R. Bro. F. V. Ward. The pall-bearers consisted of Bros. .T. H. Hopkinson, E. G. Dowrick, D. J. Coughlan, D. P. Dinnan. J. Raplev and B. Booth.
