AUSTRALIA SNUBBED
BY THE M.C.C.
VISIT N.Z.—OR NO TOUR
By Telegraph 2 —Copyright—Press Assn LONDON, Last Night.
Tho News-Chronicle, claiming to reveal exclusively the truth of the M.C.C. match negotiations with the Australian Board of Control for the New Zealand tour, declares that the board strongly objected to the extension of Marylebone’s tour to Now Zealand, considering that New Zealand should make its own arrangements. The Chronicle adds that New Zealand sent a representative to Australia where ho was most rudely received, the board giving him only a few minutes to state his case and informing him that the decision had already been made and the representative could read their statement in the newspapers. Meanwhile the English counties decided that Marylebone’s original request should not be altered, Australia being politely told that if it could not agree there might be some question of cancelling the tour. Subsequently the Board of Control saw its mistake. The fact that Marylebone is able to fulfil its programme both for tho Australian and New Zealand tours is regarded as a triumph of tact and diplomacy.
NOT’SAYING ANYTHING
SYDNEY, Last Night
Mr R. A. Oxlade, questioned about the rudeness to the New Zealand delegate to-night, declined to comment. He
declared any statement regarding the negotiations with New Zealand must
come from the chairman of the Board of Control, Dr. Robertson, of Melbourne.
