WALLINGFORD MEETINGS
WELL ATTENDED FUNCTIONS
At the April meeting, Mrs. Wilson
presiding over 2 5 members in the absence of Mrs. Ormond. Mrs. Ranson and Miss McMichael, of Twyford,
give a very interesting demonstration on making seagrass seats for stools and chairs. The competition for the best oven scones was kindly judged by the visitors and they found it hard
to decide —so many entries were gdod. Finally the results were — Mrs. A. Judd 1, Mrs. Jackson 2, Mrs. A. S. Wilder 3 —out of 21 entries. Mrs. Jackson proposed a vote of thanks to Mrs. Manson and Miss McMichael and the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem. The hostesses for the day were Mesdames Annetts. Christie' Wall, Judd, Wilson and A. S. Wilder.
May Meeting
The monthly meeting was held at Wallingford on the 12 th inst., Mrs. Ormond presiding over 26 members. Mrs. Whitehead, delegate to the annual meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Provincial Federation gave an excellent report of the proceedings, after which the members adjourned for the cooking demonstration. Mrs. Ormond kindly lent her kitchen and Mrs. Lee, of Waipukurau gave a most interesting and instructive demonstration on pastry making. Afternoon tea was then handed round by the hostesses, Mesdames McNutt, Lane, E,« McLeod, Sherratt and Mrs. Ormond proposed a vote of thanks to Mrs. Lee.
The competition for the best cushion made from a sugar bag was judged by Mrs. Cameron, Porangahau, and resulted in Mrs. A. Judd 1, Mrs. A. S. Wilder 2, Mrs. Judd 3.
