WAIPUKURAU CLUB THE PLAY YESTERDAY On the Maharakcko links yesterday afternoon a stroke match was played by the ladies, with the following results:—
MT. HERBERT CLUB The ladies of the Mount Herbert Golf Club ■will play the first round of the O’Connor Trophy on Saturday. Play will commence at 1.30 p.m. HAGEN’S RECORD ROUND 1,000 GUINEAS TOURNAMENT LONDON, May 17. R. YVhiteombc, with 66, and Tom Green, ex-Midlands champion, broke Hagen’s record of 69 for the Moortown golf course in the first qualifying round of the Leeds .1000 guineas tournament. Twine did 69, Denny 70, Havers 72, Compston and Padgham 74. Cotton 75, Miyamoto (.Tanaese) 76. Hagen cannot compete in the open championship, his entry being three days late.
