LATE EARL OF EGMONT
LED A SIMPLE LIFE
DROVE PRODUCE TO MARKET
LONDON, May 17.
The Earl of Egmont and his son, aged 18, lived simply at Avon Castle since they arrived from their Calgary ranch in 1929. The Earl became a market gardener and drove produce to the nearest markets and sold for cash. He kept several outdoor hands, but no indoor servants, the father and son doing their own housework in the mansion of 43 rooms.
