Fast Trip to Auckland, and Back
Pilot W. Stanton, with Mr M’Ewen, | captain of the Manawatu Aero Club, I made a fast trip to Auckland and bck a few days ago. Leaving the Bell Block ’drome at 7 o’cdock they arrived at Mangere at 9.5, had breakfast at the clubhouse there, transacted business in Auckland and commenced the return journey at 10.40, reaching Bell Block at 12.40. The flyers had a splendid trip both ways. Conditions were very clear and the Southern Alps were plainly visible', while a wonderful view was obtained of Tongariro National Park. The Unknown Owner An unusual judgment was given in the Magistrate’s Court at New Ply-' mouth in favour of the Borough Council in a claim for rates. The name - of the owner of the land is not known, and so the 'proceedings were issued simply against the ‘'ow.ij.er of allotment,” etc., and as the requirements for special service had been satisfied the judgment was • given by default, as no defence had been /filed and there was no appearance, .of. - the unknown owner. d ’ *
