SHEEP DOG TRIALS

Hawke’s Bay Centre CHAMPIONSHIP MEETING A GREAT SUCCESS

The Hawke’s Bay Centro championship dog trials wore concluded at Tikokino on Saturday, when classes 11, and 111, were completed. The weather was fine but exceedingly cold, making things very unpleasant for officials, competitors, and spectators alike. Tho short head event, Class 11, for which 64 dogs competed and the huntaway event, Class 111, for which there were 45 competitors, were got through in good time. Excellent performances Were put up by the leading dogs in each event, though as might have boon expected, with such large entries, some of the work was not so good. The meeting, however, was undoubtedly the best dog trials held at Tikokino, and certainly one of the best, if not the best provincial championship meeting that have been held in Hawke’s Bay. The whole of the officials worked splendidly throughout the meeting, and to their united efforts the great success of the trials is in a great measure due. The following are the results: —
