PHAR LAP POISONED
Says Sporting Writer , ACCIDENTAL DEATH REPORT “ALL MOONSHINE’’ (Per Press Association) AUCKLAND, This Day. “I have no doubt, distasteful as it is to say it, that Phar Lap was deliberately poisoned,” said H. A. Wolfe, Australian sporting writer, who went to America to report for a group of newspapers the doings of the champion.
The suggestion that be died from colic is all moonshine, ’ said Mr. Wolfe. “After investigation it was found that the theory that he had eaten Alfalafa, sprinkled with arsenate of lead, would not hold water.
Mr. Wolfe said that Phar Lap won the big race in a common canter, and no doubt with ordinary luck in training, he would have remained unbeaten. He was certain that Ammon Ra would do well in America.
