MINERS’ TROUBLE
ON THE WEST COAST CONFERENCE NEGOTIATIONS (Per Press Association) GREYMOUTH, This Day. The Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes and the Hon. C. E. MacMillan each telegraphed to Mr. P. J. McLean, chairman of the Grey Chamber of Commerce that the coal owners are willing to meet the miners’ council in conference as early as possible. Meanwhile the former working conditions are being continued. Probably the men will be at work to-morrow. AN EARLIER MESSAGE MEN REJECT ULTIMATUM (Per Press Association! GREYMOUTH, Yesterday. Stop work meetings were held at all district mines this morning except at Blackball, which is working. Wallsend and Dobson resolved to support the Miners’ Council s i ecommendation that the owners’ new terms be not accepted. The mines are idle pending a conference. The State mine’s voting was 282 for a strike and 10 against.
