MESSAGE FROM KING
Loyalty Of Dominions
VISIT OF EMINENT DIVINE
HIGHER SPIRITUAL ESTIMATES
(Per Press Association)
WELLINGTON, This Day.
The Rev. Dr. Lauchlan Mac Lean Minister of the Glasgow Cathedral, arrived to-day by the Maunganui from Sydney, after three months in Australia where he acted as preacher at Scots Church, Melbourne.
Before-leaving England he received from His Majesty the King, a message to the Dominions he visited. The King -expressed his deep sympathy with the Dominions in their present day anxieties and said he shared in all their hopes,
and that their loyalty was his most precious possession.
In an interview, the visitor said that the times through which we had been passing were awakening humanity to a perception of the fact that material ideals, as an end and measure of life, were not abiding things. He had no doubt from his own experience with men and women that the world was swinging back to higher spiritual estimates. He found in Australia a wonderful response to the appeal of religious ideals.
He returns to England by the Mataroa, leaving Auckland on May 28.
