Mortgagors Relief Applications
Over 60 applications for relief under the Mortgagors Relief Act came before the ,Hon. Mr Justice Reed in the Palmerston ’North Supreme Court recently.A large number were referred, to the Commission which has been appointed under the Act to report upon the merits of applications. Slump in Rabbit Skins The tremendous slump in the market for rabbit skins may be gauged by the returns of a well-known Hinuera trapper from a Dunedin firm of 4 920 skins, weighing 5551 b. The gross total realised was £lO 4 s 4d from which the following deductions were made: Classing £l, receiving and delivering 5s commission, 5s 2d, freight £4 Is total £5 ,11s 2d. The net return to the trapper was £4 13s 2d, or Is lOd per 100 skins. It will be observed that the freight just halved the profit. Three years ago the same skins would have realised' £62. ’
