UNEMPLOYMENT TAX

CRITICISM ANSWERED

REPLY BY DEPARTAIENT,

(Per Press Association)

WELLINGTON, This Day

The department points out that the correspondent has failed to realise that the Unemployment Board's income is now solidly dependent on the emergency charge whereas in the past its expenditure has been subsidised pound for pound from the consolidated fund.
