HOTTEST NIGHT FOR 16 YEARS
By Telegraph —Copyright —Press Assn.
SYDNEY, November 4.
Sydney citizens have been sweltered for the past twenty-four hours. Last night was the hottest in 16 years, the temperature at ten o’clock being 81 degrees. Again this morning they were experiencing a fierce sun and a hot wind. The temperature at nine o’clock was 89 degrees and remained in the eighties all day. High temperatures and blinding dust were experienced in South Australia and Victoria yesterday, with storms at night and the atmosphere heavily charged with dust which spoiled clothing and did considerable damage to property.
