VALUES ADVANCE SLIGHTLY. STORE SHEEP STILL SLUMP. (Per Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, Last Night. On account of the uncertainty of the freezing position and the intervention of the Easter holidays, entries in all fat stock sections were smaller to-day and last week’s values were more than retained. Though smaller, the store sheep entry showed little improvement in values. The best longwools and crossbred ewes improved by up to 1/6 a head but the bulk of the entry comprising halfbreds and Corriedales, receded by that much except for good sorts. Good two tooth Romney ewes made to 28/9; good sixtooth threequarter-bred to. 30/-; good two and four tooth threequarter-bred, to 29/-; good s.m. threequarter-bred 20s to 22/-; ordinary two tooth half-bred ewes, to 19/1; backward half-bred ewes, 13/10 to 17/-; six and eight tooth crossbred ewes, 17/6 to 20/-; two tooth crossbred ewes, to 20/-; s.m. haltbred ewes, 16/- to 18/-; ordinary s.m. lialfbred ewes,-13/- to 14/6; best two. four and six tooth crossbred ewes to 25/-; f.m. half-bred ewes, 10/- to 12/-; aged halfbred ewes, 5/- to 7/-; ordinary two tooth Corriedale ewes, 19/- to 20/10 s.m. Vealers were dull of sale, with a drop of 20/- to 30/- a head. Top price was £6 2/-. There was a poor yarding of store cattle, both in number and quality. A pen of 21 -year steers was passed at £9 5/-. There was a good sale for dairy cows close to profit. Best sorts made £l3 to £l5; others £9 to £l2 10/-; .best heifers to £l4 10/-; good £ll to £l3 10/-; others £7 to £lO 10/-. Fat pigs: A heavy entry, particularly of porkers and a slow sale. Porkers fetched 48/- to 55/-; and heavy porkers 58/- to 63/*- (average price per lb 71 d to 8L1); light bac.oners, £3 10/- to £3 17/-; heavy baconers £4 to £4 10/-; extra heavy baeoners to £5 7/6 (average Twice per lb 6d to 6}d). The entry of store pigs was a large one and all classes were decidedly easier, winners selling with difficulty. Large stores realised 35/- to 41/-; medium 22/- to 2//-; small, 1//- to 21/-; wi.rners, 4/6 to 14/-.
