• Mr E. A. Goodger, who is addressing a meeting in the Municipal Theatre to-night, in support of his candidature for the Harbour Board, this morning received the following telegram: — ‘‘Goodger, Waipukurau —In view of assistance given Chambers last night by outside supporters, would you like contingent Napierites to assist you tonight? —■Bryant.” Mr Goodger has replied as follows: —‘‘Many thanks kind offer assistance. Prefer, however, to fight contest alone.” Consistent •with his independent stand as to the questions at issue being finalised by a Loyal Commission, and in order that kc may. be entirely free to support its recommendation, Mr Goodger, while fully appreciative of the foregoing, desires, as is a characteristic, to fight his own and what he the electors’ battle.
