Negotiations with the supporters of Mr Loughlin are outlined in the hope of bringing about reconciliation within the Labour- Party. Although no finality was reached many Labour officials are still cofidcnt that a method will be found for averting a general election. It is understood that informal discussions took place between Messrs Goodwin and Gillies, and three members of the Federal Executive of the Australian Labour Party. The “breakaways” demand as a basis of settlement the withdrawal of the dictatorship, permanent scrapping of Rod rules,' and removal of Mr Willis from the office of vice-president of the Executive Council, and his secretary, Mr Voight, from the scene of political activities.
