BURNED TO DEATH.
OCTOGENARIAN’S TRAGIC END. THAAIES, August t 9. Mrs Varney aged eighty years, a win ow living alone, was burned to death in a fire which occurred early this morning in a four-roomed dwelling occupied by her. The house was destroyed. It was situated beyond the water supply area, and though a buckt brigade was formed it was impossible to save the house or enter the dwelling. There were no insurances on the house or'* contents.
