From Minister of Finance, Wellington, re poor relief.—Dealt with by Patriotic Committee.— It was resolved to purchase a copy of Jallop’s Statutes. From J. The inspector imported as follow : So cubic yds metal have been delivered and spread on dm following streets ; .McLean, -G yds; Grant, K) yds; Hail, 23 yds; Ormond, 5 yds. Water tables have been cleaned in all principal streets. Fp lo May 6th, 15 loads of rubbish had* been removed from various stores by Borough Staff. The fees collected were £2 4s 6d, and amount paid for labour 19s Gd. If it is the intention of Council to continue removing rubbish it will be necessary Lo procure a more suitable carl. Notices have been served on the following properties to have them connected with the drainage. Lot 12, sec. 37, McLean Street; Lot 5, sec. 74, Tay Street: Lot 2 sec. 7, Grey Street; Lot 93. see. 74, Vogel Street. Nothing has been done by owners to Lot 90, sec. 6, Grey Street, to have buildings thereon repaired and made lit lor occupation. On 2uth April, further samples of se wage were taken from the treatment works by an onicer of the Public Health Dept., extending over a period of 14 hours. Samples of sewage at entrance of works w ere taken every to minutes from 6.30 a.m. until 2p.m., and the eutluents from works from 2p.m. until 8.30p.m. results practical!v the same as January 18th. last. The gas works and coal yard re T ports were read. Deeding with the inspector’s report, it was resolved that in reference to owner of lot, 90 section G the advice of the Borough Solicitors be taken, and, if there was power to act, tlie inspector was to lake immediate action.
