Lower Gorge Bridge.

MR ROSS. M.P., RECEIVES AN INVITE AT THE ELEVENTH HOUR. (Special to The Examiner). Wellington, This day. The following is interesting reading : I have to-day wired the chairman oUthe Oroua County Council as under r—“ I received your invitation to to day’s function at eleven a.mthis day, consequently I am quite unable to be present. Candidly I think I was entitled to something better than an invitation at the eleventh hour, conveying the impression that my invitation at all was a mere afterthought. Surely this is hardly fair or courteous as it is well known that I worked hard to secure the re-erection of the Lower Gorge bridge, as a perusal of Hansard will show. However, I nevertheless hope that you will have a successful function, and that the re-erection of the bridge will prove of great value and convenience.—Ross.”
