Rabbit Extermination.

DR DANYSZ’ EXPERIMENT. Melbourne, May 29. A deputation which waited upon Sir W. J. Lyne, Federal Minister of Customs, urged the prohibition of the Danysz rabbit extermination serum in connection with the experiments to be carried out in Sydney. It also preeeuted petitions signed by twelve thousand people against the proposed importation. It was represented that the rabbit export industry was worth to Australia over a million a year. Sir W. J. Lyne stated that it was in the power of the Commonwea th to issue a proclamation interdicting the introduction of the virus, and he would make representations to Cabinet on the matter. He was, personally, dead against the importation of any disease. Perth, May 30. Dr Danysz has arrived. He declined to give an opinion as to how the rabbit killing virus would act in Australia, as much depended on climate and other conditions with which he was not at present familiar. He gave a non-com-mital reply to the query as to whether there was any possibility of the disease Bpreading to other animals. His own opinion is that it will not, but be intended that his experiments should leave no doubt on the subject. He prefers to demonstrate rather than to advance opinions.
