The annual meeting of the Library Committee was held last Saturday. The balance-sheet presented showed a credit balance of £ll Is Bd. It Was decided to send to Edinburgh for another £lO worth of books. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—Messrs Mackie /chairman), Bryant, Little, Pattiaon, Bagley, Drager, and McGowan (hon. isec. and treas.) The opening of the shooting season was very quiet, ducks being ■Scarce. One local sport, who wont ■out armed with a rather out-of-date «fle, after spending a cold night waiting for daylight, his first and only shot resulted in him being knocked flat on his back.

The Library Committee intend Bolding a dance in aid of the funds on Friday, June Ist.

The first meet this season of the Woodlands Hunt Club was held here on Wednesday afternoon. Prior to the start, all the huntsmen were entertained at afternoon tea by Mr P. B. Lynch. The high fences, combined with the state of the ground, <oaueed several would-be enthusiasts fto keep on the road. There were three spills, but luckily no one was hurt.
