Sensational Occurrence in Woodville.

TWOiHORSES BOLT,

BOY BADLY INJURED.

A sensational occurrence took place in Vogel Street yesterday afternoon about three o’clock. Two horses belonging to Messrs James Bros, bolted from Me Smith’s blacksmith shop. They made for the town, and one of them crashed into Mr Lynch’s buggy which was standing just outside the Club Hotel side entrance. MrLyuch, who was in the buggy, had no time to get out of the road when bis horse was struck. The buggy was sworn d round and the forepart of it smashed. Mr Lynch’s horse feil, and when it got up again it commenced kicking. Mr Thom came to the rescue, and held it while Mr Lynch reached safety. The buggy was completely ruined.

The horse which did the damage continued its mad career up Vogel Street. Just as it neared London House it swerved suddenly into the water-table. A young son of Mr Alex. Milne was standing on the road holding a horse. He was struck by the bolting horse, dashed against the ▼erandah post, and lien thrown along the pavement. The horse fell, but though it appeared to come on top of the boy, it could not have done so or he would have been more seriously injured. As it was he sustained severe bruises on the head and an injury tohis hip. He was taken into Mr McKibbin’a shop where Dr Mules was speedily in attendance avid alleviated the little fellow's suffering.

The horse was captured in Ross Street none the worse for its sensational bolt. The other horse did no damage, being caught at Mr Balchin’e stable.

We learn on enquiry this morning that the lad passed a fairly comfortable night, and no serious consequences are anticipated.
