THE BACON COMPANY.
(to the editor). Sir, —“ lam more than astonished ot the attitude taken up These words are yours, which appeared in a footnote appended to a letter from me, published in your issue of the 12th inst. I only wished to contradict the statement that you made as to this company purchasing rejects and castoffs of another company, and point out to you the inconsistency of your remarks, i.e., turning out good bacon out of swill-ltd pigs. In attributing these statements to me you have drawn on your imagination, and to suit your purpose you have tiied to twist a verbal conversation to imply that I made these statements. As you are evidently an exponent of the game of ninepins, which I am informed requires some slight of han i to twist the ball to knock down the nine pins ir. one act, and you being an authority on the game, and also how to manage a bacon company, pardon the liberty I have taken, dear Mr Editor, in pointing out to you the inconsistency of your conclusions from my point of view, and your reference to " the gentleman" is in my opinion in very bad taste.—l am, &c., J. D. Anderson. [Can anyone understand wbot Mr Anderson is driving at ? We confess our inability to appreciate the attitude of a gentleman who makes a statement one day to knock it down the next. — Ed. Ex.]
