The Federal Cycling Council concluded its annual conference in Adelaide 4 on tne Btb inst. Business done—consisted of appointing Mr W. J. Mountain (Victoria) President for the ensuing year, and Mr T. Heide, Secretary. The Australasian Championships for 1903—4 were allotted as follows - Five Miles Australasian, and One Mile International to South Australia ; One Mile Australasian and Half Mile International to Victoria; Half Mile Australasian and Five Miles International to New South Wales ; and Ten Miles Australasian and Half Mile International to Queensland. The Council appointed Mario Bruzzone, the Continental cyclist, its representative at the Annual Cyclists’ Congress, which is this year being held at Copenhagen (Denmark) on the 16th of August. The Council will hold its next Conference in Melbourne in May, 1904. To facilitate getting a correct report of the Great International Motor Race in Ireland next month for the “ Gordon-Bennett Cup,” an enterprising English Autombile paper has decided to have a large captive balloon suspended over the figure 8 course from a convenient, point so as to command an extensive view of the route. The balloon will be 36 feet in diameter, and will contain 21,000 cubic feet of gas, and carry three passengers. So that the spectators can follow the progress of the 12 competing cars, it has been decided by the English Automobile Club that the 3 English cars will be painted green (out of compliment to Ireland), the American cars will be red, the French blue, and the German white. The race course is splendidly adapted from a sight seeing standpoint, as owing to its peculiar shape tbe competitors will pass one given point 8 times. Particulars of S. F. Edge’s (bolder of the Cup) car are now to band. The car is a “ Napier,” English made throughout, with 4 cylinders giving 30 nominal horse power, with 4 speeds and a reverse. Tbe frame is of pressed steel and wood. The weight of tbe car com. plete is 17|cwt. or 2|cwt. under the limit of 1000 kilos which the conditions of the race enforce. The wheel base is 7ft. 10 inches with 34 inch wheels fitted with 3| Dunlop indtor tyres.
