BAD FOR THE DISTRICT.

[to the editor.]

' Sir, —The price of fresh eggs in Wellington is Is 9d to le lOd per dozen. Our storekeepers give ns only Is, or Is 8d at a pinch. Surely if tie local demand is not sufficiently large to warrant the storekeepers giving; prices nearer the Wellington mark, they should pay within 2d or 8d a dozen of it and send the eggs to Wellington. This would leave a profit and go towards removing the reproach of our town of there being “no market for anything.”—l am &c., OACELEDi
