The Football Dance.

The dance in aid of the fuuds of the Woodville Football Club held in the Drill Hall last evening must be classed as one ,of the nicest dances ever held in Woodville. The attendance was not as large as we should like to' have seen, but those present seemed to be “ in tiptop form ” for dancing, and everyone had the best of good times. There was not much attempt at decoration, but a cosy drawing room had been arranged and a football jersey or two and some footballs gave the necessary sporting touch. The music was first-class, being provided by Miss Davies and Mr Macmahon, extras being played by Misses Pickering and Hutchings and Mr Marryatt. The supper was, as befitting a footballers’ dance, scrumptious—in fact we doubt if we have seen a nicer spread at any dance in Woodville. The Club are deeply indebted to Mrs J. H. Harris, who undertook the whole organisation of this imj portant department. That she succeeded admirably was plainly evident from the many complimentary remarks we heard. The ladies assisting her were Mesdumes Davies, Grant, Rosenbergaud Symonds, and the Misses Harvey and Symonds. Mr Madill, the energetic secretary, deserves a special word of congratulation for the way in which the affair was managed, during the evening songs were given by the Misses Mary Loveday and Sowry, and Messrs Hutchings and Madill, and a cornet solo by Mr Macmahon.
