Borough Council.

A special meeting of the Woodville Borough Council was held last night to consider a protest from the tenderers for the Borough maintenance contract against the tender of H. Giles being accepted on the ground that the tender was sent in late. Present: Crs Scally, Troup, Monteith, Motley, Grinlinton, Stacpoole, Gothard, Mauisty, and the Mayor. None of the five objectors appeared to support their contention. Mr Giles stated his tender was delivered in time. The Council resolved that the protest be not entertained, and severely condemned the action of the petitioners in making a charge and then failing to sustain it. Mr Ross, poundkeeper, also waited on the Council to protest against thc-ir resolution as to the maintenance fees to be charged at the pound, and the matter was held over for consideration till next meeting.
