Pahiatua News.

(Special to the Examiner.) Pahiatua, This Day. There is every prospect of a triweekly mail to Makuri being established shortly. Mr Sinclair had a mishap with his coach on Tuesday. After crossing the Tirnamea river one of the wheels broke down, and a trap that was handy had to be made use of. A new coach will be ready in a week or, in the meantime, the service will be kept going as best he can. Neilson’a meetings re co-operation so far have been a fiasco. Ho was unable to get into the hall and established himself on a beer barrel in the right-of-way between the hotel and hall. Here a crowd had congregated brimful of mischief and Mr Nilson had not proceeded far in his speech when some one called for a song. The speaker asked if they would take one in his own language, and by consent he gave one, causing some merriment. The assembly broke up without really knowing what Mr Nilson proposed to do, as ho could not make use of the notes he had made for want of a light. Probably, on a little consideration, ho may let the matter rest for a lime.

A successful meeting was held in the Methodist Church to give a farewell to the Eev. Mr Saunders, who is leaving shortly for His new charge in Canterbury. The ladies had provided a sumptuous .supply of provisions, and a successful tea was held.—Mr Vile, who occupied the chair, in wishing Mr Saunders God-speed presented him with a pu so of sovereigns on behalf of the Pahiatua congregation.—Mr Saunders feelingly replied.—Addresses were also given by Mr Farrow and Mr Kedmoud.
