SPECIAL MEETING.

A special meeting of the members of the Woodville Jockey Club was held in Biokerton’s Hall last evening. Mr L. D. Bickerton preside.cl The Secretary stated that Mr Henry had accepted the offer of Handicapper. With reference to the race-course Mr Burnett wrote offering to lease course for 10 years at £35 per annum, Club to have training fees, no racing to bo allowed on Sunday, nor training after 8 a.m. on that day; Club to have use of course for as many meetings as required, Mrs Harding to pay rates and have right of grazing, right of way to be given, purchasing clause exercisable at any time at TflO per acre. The committee appointed to report on the race-course reported in favor of accepting Mrs Harding’s offer, the purchase money having been reduced to X'3o per acre.

Mr J. J. Murphy said ho considered they could not have a better course than the present. Mr Haggcn proposed that the Committee’s report bo adopted, conditionally on the Club hat ing the right to remove any buildings erected by them, Mr Murphy considered that the Club should have the right to use the whole of the laud included in the course. He moved an amendment that the matter stand over till it was ascertained what Mrs Harding would require for the lease of the whole area within the course, if she would lease the whole area at any time required by ihe Club and that a danse be added allowing the Club to remove all buildings erected thereon, Mr Gothard seconded*

Mr Rabone suggested securing an area sufficient for sports &c. Mr Murphy adhered to his motion to secure the whole area if it could be got reasonably.—Carried. Mr Murphy proposed that a sub-com-mitte consisting of Messrs Stacpoole, the Secretary and the mover wait on Mrs Harding and Mr Burnett re course, and report to a future meeting. Mr G. T. Hall seconded.—Carried. The Stewards recommended the erection of a stand and other improvements to the value of H3OO. The meeting then adjourned.
