The Great European Powers am at present engaged exchanging views with regard to tiio political situation in Bulgaria. In the House of Commons to-day Sir James Fergnsson, Under-Secretary l'"i' Foreign Affairs, in reply to aquostion, expressed the belief that no Tower would act in contiiivolition of the Treaty of Berlin. Constantinople, Sept. 10. The latest intelligence from Bulgaria states that Prince Alexander has not yet started for Darmstadt as previously reported, but has summoned the National Assembly to meet to-morrow, and intends to leave afterwards. OBITUARY. Obitnry—Samuel Morley, the wellknown politican, aged 77. COMMERCIAL. The weekly returns of the Bank of England, published to-day, show the proportion of the reserve to the liabilities to be 47 per cent. The total reserve in notes and bullions is ±12,200,000. The market rate of discount is at 2}, per cent., or -jj- below the minimum bank rate. WOOL MARKET FIRM. At the colonial wool sales to-day 12,000 bales were offered. The market remains firm, with active demand. AUSTRALIAN NEWS. THE LY-EE-MOON WRECK. Sydney, Sept. 11. The trill of Captain Yrebber for manslaughter, in connection with the wreck of the steamship Ly-ee-moon, was concluded yesterday, when the jury were unable to agree upon a verdict, and were discharged. A BIG STAKE. The Rosehill Racing Club, Sydney, have announced a handicap race for *SOOO, to come off during the centenary celebration. PROTECTION OF NEW HEBRIDES. Melbourne, Sept. 11. Sir Henry Loch has consented to ask Admiral Tryon whether a man-of-war is available for dispatch to the New Hebrides, for the purpose of protecting the interests of British subjects in those islands.
