i i,]-.r, nin'j Ac"’-.' The Wa.ipa.wa County Council met on Friday, when there Were present —Cotmcillors Smith (in the eliair), Herrick, Boss, Biliby. Youngman. The Chairman explained that the Waipawa County had increased since last valuation 1240,000, and now exceeded tho valuation ot Batangata County. Ho also stated that the Vfaipawa, Makaretu, Knmeroa, and Maharahara Bead Boards had not applied for subsidies. IB explained that the 7d per cent subsidies would bo available as soon as the rale was struck, and they wore applied for.

The Clerk was instructed to send circulars to the Boad Boards urging them to applyTho Clerk was also instructed to pat the matter of judgment against Mr Ebbett for rates into tho hands of the bailiff.

A reply was ordered to be sent to the request from Knmeroa rc repairs to bridge, that the Council had to funds. — Resolved that the pound boards bo repaired when required. In-solved tSiat. the request of the Woodvilie Cheese Factory tor repairs to the road loading to their premises be granted, and that the Overseer see to the matter. A circular was received from the Department of Justice, intimating that Ormond ville had been constituted a separate licensing district. Mr Fennell, rate collector, Woodville, granted Aid. On tho motion of Crs Herrick and Boss it was resolved that, the Maunga-atua Boad Board be informed that the Council has no funds to grant a subsidy. A reply was ordered to he sent to Mr Fennel 1 to the effect that the Gosermnent would not pay the rates that lie supposed to be due by them to tho Maharahara Boad Board, and that they do collected from deferred payment settlers with other rates.

A reply was also ordered to be sent, on the motion of Crs Bihhy and Boss. That the ]>anovirkc Town Hoard be informed that the Council had not funds to widen the main road throned' that township and that the matter bo deferred for the present. licsolvcd that a claim ho sent in to the Patangata Council for its share of solicitor’s account np to dale ot division of comity. A petition was received from Alakaretn signed by d-l residents asking that a pound be established in that district and that it bo located at P. Madison’s, it being the most central. Besolved on the motion of Cr Herrick that the request be granted, provided that the provisions of the Act »v proper accommodation for stock bo carried out.

The overseer's report was then coir sidered—

AVoodville Biding.—The Overseer repotted that ho had to take prompt action to strengthen the Oringi bridge that was giving way, it being in a dangerous condition. —He was authorised to complete the repairs at once. He was also authorised to put in pipe culverts where re-

(juired. On the motion of Cr Hall, Mr Horace Baker to be. informed that his offer of giving a portion of liis land for the improvement of Harding's road be accepted. Th•' Chairman informed the meeting that the bank overdraft had been reduced to .H12(30 14s 2d.

The Cleric was instructed to apportion the overdraft in accordance with rates received from each riding. On the motion of Cr Boss a return was ordered to be submitted to next meeting as to Councillors’ travelling expenses for the past year. Tins limshed the business.
