Melbourne, March 5. At the adjourned inquest as to the death of Mr Reynolds, who was killed by an explosion, the jury, after additional evidence, found Augustus Green guilty of wilful murder. He was committed on a Coroner's warrant. The verdict caused great surprise, as the evidence against the accused was the slightest possible. Ireland, the actor, obtained £100 damages from the Licensed Victuallers' " Gazette," the libel having said that he was a slovenly actor. A deputation from the Agricultural Society waited on the Chief Secretary, asking the Government to prohibit the importation of cattle from New Zealand, or to remove the prohibition as regards Europe altogether. Mr Francis stated that fresh legislation would be required. A verdict of £87 has been given against the New Zealand Insurance Company, at the instance of Michael Walsh, publican, on account of insurance. The English Eleven, in the Hobarton match, scored 368 in the first innings ; G. F. Grace, 154; Oscroft, 45; Jupp, 44. ( The Tasmanians have 13 wickets for 138 runs. The match likely to be concluded in one innings. The Australian Cup will be run for tomorrow. Protos, Contessa, and After Dark are hot favorites. The Nelson has been successfully docked.
