Bolt, the master : — Sailed from Wellington on the sth inst. at 6 a.m., wind N.W., and experienced fresh breezes throughout the day, until 8 p.m., when light variable winds set in. On the 6th, 2.30 a.m., light breeze from S.E.,' which hauled more southerly towards noon ; at 2 p.m. abreast of Otaki, wind S.W. by W.., continuing so till 4 p.m., then abreast of Manawatu Bar. As no signal wus to be seen, stood in, and when aboutoneand a half cable's length from the bar, with a clear view of the flagstaff and bar, the ball was run up on the north yard-arm and the red flag hoisted at the mast-head, the ball remaining at the north yardarm until the vessel struck on the end of the north spit ; bufc after fche vessel had considerably hardened on to the spit the ball shifted to the south yard-arm. The vessel still lies in the same position, firmly imbedded in the sand. The crew, with some assistance from shore, succeeded to- day (Thursday) in saving a small quantity of cargo. Very little hope is entertained of getting her off. The s.s. Storm Bird arrived in harbor early yesterday morning from the South. She experienced heavy weather on leaving Lyttelton. The John Bunyan has arrived at Port Uunderwood. The Hera ia to sail on Saturday next for London. — Marlborough Express, Jan. 2. The fine clipper ship Excelsior, hauled off from the wharf yesterday afternoon, and will in all probability sail for London to-morrow. She, has a full valuable cargo, and* a full complement of saloon passengers. — N. Z. Herald, Dec. 29- - The . good ship Siam is fast filling up for London, and will complete her loading during the present week, and haul into tho stream on Monday next prior to taking her departure for London on the 11th proximo. The splendid clipper ship Countess of Kintore has been laid on to follow the Siam, and will commence to load immediately on discharge of inward cargo. — Ibid The Lyttelton Times correspondent, writing from Little Akaloa on Jan. 4, sends the following particulars of the wreck of the ketch Minnie : — On Saturday last, about midnight the wind blew a whole gale from N.E., sending in a tremendou> sea, which drove the fine ketch Minnie on th. the rocks. Fortunately the mate, tbe only persoii on board, succeeded in getting on shore soon after the vessel struck on the rocks. The damage done to the Minnie has not yet been clearly aecer-

tained, as on one Bide she is imbedded in tbe mud. The inhabitants of the bay rendered every assistance in their power. The mate, whose name is Benjamin Horn, tried all he could to keep the vessel off fche rocks. So far as can be judged, she is very much damaged ; her mizzen mast is gone, and sails and gear very much injured. Mr Thomas Pawson was owner, and I do nofc think the Minnie was insured.
