AT a Public Meeting of tho Ratepayers of the Mftkara School District, held according to notico, at the house of Mr T. D. McManawny, North Makara, Mr Richard Robinson was voted to the chair. After the Chairman had read the notice convening the meeting, the following persons were elected a Provisional Committee for the ensuing year, for the purpose of raising subscriptions for building a schoolhouse and maintaining the snme in the North Makara : — Messrs Richard Robinson, John Cook, John McManaway, William Longhurst, James Barnes, Thomas Barnes. Mr John McManaway offered a site for the school, which was thankfully accepted. The following gentlemen were elected trustees for the same : — His Honor the Superintendent (pro tern.), Mr T. D. McManaway, and Mr John Cook. A subscription list having been opened, and a good sum subscribed by the ratepayers present the following persons were appointed to collect subscriptions: — Messrs Richard Robinson, T. D.
