LATEST MELBOURNE TELEGRAMS.
The following latest telegrams are published by the Otago Daily Times of the 24th inst. :— The M'Culloch Ministry resigned on the 12th, in consequence of Home despatches opposing the Darling Grant Act. Mr Fellows has been sent for. Parliament was opened by the Commission on Friday, by the Chief Justioe and Judge Barry. Sir Francis Murphy was elected speaker. The Assembly adjourned to the 14th. Mr Fellows has not yet formed a Ministry, He will have an interview with the Governor to-day, and submit a plan of adniinisfcration. Both Houses passed addresses expressing deep sorrow and indignation at the outrage committed on the Duke. A large public meeting passed an address. Meetings are being held, and everywhere sympathy for the Prince, and horror afc the outrage, are universally felfc. March 16. Whelan, the murderer, was respited yesterday. Special prayers were offered in all the churches for the Prince's recovery. The general belief is that the Fenians are numerous here. . A public demonstration is threatened on St Patrick's Day. The Great Britain sailed yesterday with a large quantity of wool and 70,0000zs of gold. The Protestant Hall rioters are being tried to-day.
