The fourth Parliament of New Zealand assembled on Saturday last, at noon, at the Parliament House, Wellington, in pursuance of a proclamation of his Excellency the Governor Sir George Grey, calling it together. There were very few strangers present. .Shortly after 12 o'clock the ttewly elected members of the House of Representatives were summoned to tho Legislative Council Chamber, where the. Parliament was formally opened by the Comuiissionerß.tho honorables T. Bartley, Speaker of the Council, J. Prendergast, and J. Johnston. The Hon. T. BARTLEY read the proolamation and commission, aud then dismissed the members of the House of Representatives to their Chamber, informing them that after having token the oath: of allegiance) they should elect a Speaker, who would be presented to his Excellency the Governor" at one o'clock on Monday 'for his approval, and fchafc they should be informed by ,Ins Excellency on Tuesday for what purpose more particularly they had been oalied together.
