THEATRE ROYAL.

FRANK TOWERS' BENEFIT. To-mokrow evening, Frank Towers takes his benefit, -when the performances will consist, of '• William Toll" and the laughable farce of the " G-entlemiui in Black." We hare nothing to urge in behalf of Mr Towers — he may safely stand on his own merits. As one of the lessees of the Theatre Royal, he has for the last three months catered for the public amusement in a manner which has earned for him the highest credit., and which deserves such a public mark of approbation, as can only bo given by a bumper house in his , honor. Those who have been fortunate enough (o see him on the stage, will bear us out in saying, that he has always merited the applause which he has received, and the encomiums we have from ; time to time passed on him. Light comedy is Mr Towers' forte, as all who have seen him are aware, but the manner iv which he sustained the difficult part of Martin Ileywood, the farmer, proves that there is within him a latent power that only requires the occasion to disclose. Mr Towers and his partner, Mr John Dunn, have had many difficulties to overcome since they camo amongst us. The want of a regular theatre was one drawback, and a great one, (which we are glad to see may soon he removed) ; again, within the last week they have been thrown behind by the loss of three of their company, and the illness of arothcr ; a loss which they have fortunately ably replaced Ivy the addition to their company of Mr and Mrs Faweel t ; but in spite of all these difficulties, they have still held on, and hoping for better times continue to produce the finest dramas of the day in a careful and recherche manner. We cordially wish them every success — they deserve it — and we hope that the clerk of the weather will be more propitious to-morrow night, than on the occasion when our old friend Dunn took his benefit, and that Mr Towers will receive as sterling a mark of the approval of the play going public of Wellington, as that accorded by them to his partner.
