THE BALL TO MINISTERS.

On Tuesday evening the residents of Wellington gave a ball to the Ministry and the new arrivals from Auckland. Upwards of 150 people were present, and rather an unusual proportion of ladies. The Ministers present were Mr Weld, Mr Sewell, Major Richardson, and Mr Fitzherbcrt. Mrs Weld was unable to go owing to indisposition, but Mrs Sewell and Mrs Fitzherbert were present. His Honor Dr. Featherston with two of his daughters and all the elite of Wellington were assembled to meet their guests. Major Gorton, to whom the decoration of tho Hall was entrusted, acted as Master of the Ceremonies, and his arrangements were very good. The music was under the direction of Mr. Russell who, as usual, gave every satisfaction. Mr Osgood provided tho supper in his usual recherche manner, and the party broke up at four o'clock, when the company had to go home in a pouring rain. The Hall was rather crowded, but dancing was kept up with great spirit, and every one pronounced the ball a great success. The supper-room was a crush, and ral her awkward to got in and out of, owing to the stage ; now that so many new people have come amongst us that a larger building, something in the nature of a Town Hall, or Assembly room, is absolutely necessary, and we hope ere long to see that some steps arc being taken for the erection of a suitable place. Great credit is duo to the stewards, for t heir untiring exertions in the organisation of the party — exertions which rendered the ball an entire success.
