THE RANGITIKEI ELECTION.

3 Though Saturday's Mail did not bring any - detailed information relative to the liungitikei . election, yet since then, we have received the j following results of tho polling, which may :• be relied upon as being accurate : — ' d I I ; w £ Turakina ... 10 ... 9 Milne's ... 7 ... 7 t Hammond's ... 1 ... 7 t Frazer's ... 11 ... 1 E Manawatu ... 12 ... 0 Otaki ... 7 ... 3 ■' 48 27 It will thus be seen that Mr Halcombe has beaten Mr Willcox bya majority of 21, having polled nearly 2 to 1 votes as cora- • pared with his opponent. The number of electors on tho Baugitikei Roll is 150, some of whom are dead, others are non-resident, 1 and many reside at a considerable distance from the polling places, so that it may fairly be considered that more than an average number of votes have been recorded. Mr Willcox was an ultra-Separationist, and his defeat on that account, is in the highest degree satisfactory.
