WAIHI GUN CLUB

KEEN COMPETITION AT WEEKEND SHOOT GIMCRACK TO THAMES Exceptionally keen competition was the feature of another successful shoot held under the auspices of the Waihi Gun Club last week-end. The main event was the club’s gimcrack championship cup presented by Mrs G. Rhodes. It was won outright by Mr D. McCarthy, of Thames, with three wins. Shooters from 'Thames, Paeroa, Pukekohe, Ngatea, Katikati, Karangliake, Puriri, Waitawheta, Waikino and Ngaruawahia competed. Following are the results: —

No. 1 Match (Eye-opener—s birds, 11 shooters): J. Casey (Waihi), J. McCombs (Pukekohe), C. Higgins .(Ngaruawahia) and G Pavidson (Waikino), shot the possible and divided the stake. No. 2 Sweep (5 birds, 11 shooters): J. Grammer (Katikati), G. Casey (Waihi), J. Davey (Ngatea), J. McCombs (Pukekohe) and L. Bovin (Pukekohe) shot the possible and divided the stake.

Mrs G. Casey’s Cup and Trophy (7 birds, 15 shooters): J. McCombß (Pukekohe), and D. McCarthy (Thames), shot the possible and in the shoot-off McCombs won the cup on the tenth bird, McCarthy being second with 9 breaks to win the trophy. N. Pearson, J. Galvin, G. Casey, G. Davidson, L. Hawkins and 5. Davey were third with 6 breaks each.

Mrs G. Rhodes’ Gimcrack pionship Cup (7 birds, 16 shooters): D. McCarthy (Thames) and N. Pearson (Puriri) shot the possible aud in the slioot-off McCarthy won on the ninth bird. Pearson was second with 8 breaks and J. Davey and J. McCombs third with 6 breaks each.

Club Trophy (7 birds, 16 shooters) : C. Higgins, L. Thompson, N. Pearson, J. Davey, R. Bellamy and L. Hawkins shot the possible and in the shoot-off Pearson won on the twelfth bird. C. Higgins was second with 11 and J. Davey third with 7 breaks.

Sweep (5 birds, 15 shooters): G. Davidson, R. Bellamy, M. Pitcher, L. Hawkins, G. Casey, N. Pearson and L. Thompson shot the possible and in the shoot-off N. Pearson won on the fourteenth bird. L. Hawkins was second with 13 and L. Thompson third with 10 breaks.

Sweep (5 birds, 9 shooters): N. Pearson was first with the possible. C. Higgins, J. McQombs, M. Rackham, J. Bovil and E. Johnson were second with 3 breaks each. Another enjoyable afternoon tea was provided by the ladies.
