CHRISTMAS GIFT-BOX BUYING
AVOID THAT FINAL RUSH Think of Christnias-gift-box buying while prices are still more or less normal. Watch for tiny remnants of cream or white linen which can be used to make up d’Oyleys, centres, etc., for those girl friends who are stocking their glory-box.
It is simple to mark out a shape and have spoke-stitching done if you do not care to scallop the edges. Trace appropriate designs on the article and work them in spare moments.
Scraps of bright-coloured silks and celluloid dolls make up into gay py-jama-doll soiled-hanky bags popular with those girls who, just bordering on teen age, are too old for toys.
Dainty lingerie tops can often he purchased at a reduced price at winter sales. These, cellophane-wrapped, are delightful for the girl or matron who likes to make her own undies.
Other gifts that suggest themselves: tiny fancy dishes, kitchen gadgets, the inevitable hanky. In all cases hear in mind that the gift is to- be appropriate. Keep a check on purchases, wrap the articles and mark each, so that there is no confusion before putting it away in a special port or drawer. Start now and you will wonder how you managed to get all your Christmas gifts ready and still have a rounded purse when it comes to the final flutter of shopping on Christmas Eve.
