Satisfaction with his mission to Australia in connection with supplies of materials for New Zealand’s war effort was expressed by the Minister of National Service, the Hon. It. Semple, on his return by the Mariposa to-day. “I travelled thousands of miles in Australia and inspected every munitions works and other developments in connection with the production of war materials, and met with the greatest courtesy from the heads of the Supply and Development Associalion in the Commonwealth,” said Mr Semple. “My mission has been to i search for raw materials and the fius is bed article for war purposes in New ’ Zealand. Australia has promised to treat us on the same basis of supply as any State in the Commonwealtha most satisfactory arrangement.” i Mr Semple was amazed at developI ments. Australia was on the eve of big tilings, but it would be some time before the new ventures now under way would come into full produc- ' tion. The Minister said everyone whom lie met. including the Australian War Cabinet, accepted the principle that New Zealand and Australia should work together in tlie cloc- : cst co-operation, realising that | mutual defence and safety were in--1 separable. “We must pool our resources and work together as never before to gain victory,” Mr Semple added.
