MONTHLY MEETING IN ST. JAMES’ HALL BRIGHT SIDE OF THINGS The monthly meeting of the Waihi Women’s Institute was held in St. James’ Hall on Thursday, the president, Mrs A. Blackmore, presiding. The minutes being read and passed and correspondence received, the meeting was asked to appoint two permanent trustees, Mesdames Denby and G. R. Thomson being chosen. Mrs Blackmore was delegated to attend the conference of the Auckland Federation of Women’s Institutes Li May and also to attend the Dominion conference at Wellington. Remits were dealt with and one new member was welcomed. A song by Mrs Blackmore was much enjoyed, while “mimes” by Mesdames Thomson, Denby, Gibson, Stokes and Blackmore caused great merriment. The bag competition was won by Mrs Mackie and the thrift article by Mrs Denby (child’s frock) Ist, and Mrs Haszard (mop) 2nd. Six members volunteered to assist the Returned Soldiers’ Association with the sale of poppies, and the meeting closed with the singing of the National Anthem.

A social is being organised by Mrs G. R. Thomson and a band of helpers.
