RAILWAY WORKER STRUCK BY FALL OF ROCK MATES’ EFFORTS TO SAVE LIFE By Telegraph—Press Association STRATFORD, this day. A middle-aged man, William O’Connor, was killed by a fall of papa rock §t the east end of No. 3 tunnel on the Taranaki-Auckland railway construction works, near Tangairakau, on Tuesday evening. His mates carried him a long distance over the hill to Mangaone. He was conscious all the way, but expired on arrival. He had been working on the job for years, and had no relatives in the Dominion.
