Both the man and his wife had plawsibie tongues, and their combined tearful plea Was unresfctible. FinaMy it was decided to send the stranded ftmiily across to Tasmania, whence they came, and the necessary financial help was arranged, with the result that the famiCy' left for "Wellington. Shortly afteaf their departure there were disquieting rumours. It is alleged that just before go- ' ing, the man, in a spirit of bravado, | produced a roll of notes oi : elc«">o on j £3OO in value as proof that ho was not J in destituto circumstances. The Oharit- j able Aid authorities took the imrtterj up, and the police at Wellington interr . vened just as the family was about tb leave for Australia.
